So far we have enjoyed the stories ‘Whatever Next’ and ‘Aliens Love Underpants’.
We have explored re-telling and acting out the stories using props and small world resources. We have experimented with mixing materials to create a moonscape collage. To develop our measuring skills we have explored building and comparing rocket towers. Some cheeky aliens appeared in nursery and the children spent time hunting for them and noting down their numbers using marks and pictorial representations.
Take a peek at some of the fun we have been having so far this term.
Funky Fingers
We enhance our provision with a range of resources and activities to help children develop strength and control which is necessary for when they begin to learn letter formation and begin writing. Take a look at some of the fun, interesting and challenging opportunities that we have been exploring this term.
Spring 2
Supertato
Evil Pea and Supertato made an appearance in nursery this term.
We spent time listening, re-telling and acting out the story. We explored mark making secret messages and designed our own Supertatos. We also found out more about growing vegetables by visiting our school’s polytunnel and finding out which fruit and vegetables grow below or above the ground. We had a giggle playing a feely bag game where we had to describe what we could feel for our friends to guess. Evil Pea was also up to mischief freezing some of Mrs Patterson’s lunch; luckily the children were able to investigate ways to rescue the frozen vegetables.
Fun with Shapes
We have been finding out about 2D and 3D shapes.
World Book Day 2019
To celebrate World Book Day and to promote the love of reading and books we invited our adults into nursery to share books with us. We also came to nursery dressed up as our favourite character and some children joined in with the whole school decorated spoon competition; there was some fantastic entries!
999 Emergency!!!
As part of our Superhero theme we have been learning about the roles of the emergency services. One of our parents is a GP and she kindly visited nursery to tell us all about her job and she showed us some of the equipment that she uses.
We also visited our local Emergency Services Quad Station to see some of the emergency service vehicles, the uniforms and equipment that they use to do their very important jobs. Some children have been taking on the role of a firefighter in our outdoor area.
