Sport at Montalbo
Here you will find information about recent and forthcoming events and festivals. Over the academic year, we aim to provide all children with the opportunity to participate in fun and competitive sporting activities. We are also extremely lucky to have the fantastic coaches from Education Enterprise who teach a wide range of sessions to Year 6 children. Our Year 5 pupils take part in weekly swimming lessons throughout the year. Furthermore, we offer many excellent after school sports clubs such as Taekwondo, Football, Athletics, Cricket and Gymnastics.
We are part of the Staindrop Academy Sports Alliance who provide us with high quality coaching sessions and an exciting calendar full of festivals and competitions. Our KS2 pupils also take part in additional School Games competitions. These events are highly competitive and often lead to County level qualifiers. In the 2022/23 academic year, Montalbo Nursery and Primary School was awarded the School Games Gold award for keeping young people active! The new 2024 School Games assessment will open in May.
Recent News and Results:
January 2024
On the last Friday in January, selected children took part in the School Games Swimming Gala. There were many individual and relay successes and overall the team finished second out of the 18 schools that entered. Only one team qualified for the county finals, but a huge well done to everyone who took part as the competition was tough! Several of the swimmers chosen swim competitively outside of school and have had a fantastic chance to shine at their chosen sport! Very well done!
