Sport at Montalbo
Here you will find information about recent and forthcoming events and festivals. Over the academic year, we aim to provide all children with the opportunity to participate in fun and competitive sporting activities. We are also extremely lucky to have the fantastic coaches from Education Enterprise who teach a wide range of sessions to Year 6 children. Our Year 5 pupils take part in weekly swimming lessons throughout the year. Furthermore, we offer many excellent after school sports clubs such as Taekwondo, Football, Athletics, Cricket and Gymnastics.
We are part of the Staindrop Academy Sports Alliance who provide us with high quality coaching sessions and an exciting calendar full of festivals and competitions. Our KS2 pupils also take part in additional School Games competitions. These events are highly competitive and often lead to County level qualifiers.
Success
In 2026-2027 we were awarded the School Games Gold Award once again for our outstanding commitment to PE and Sports.
Links with Local Clubs/Coaches
We have good links with Barnard Castle Cricket Club (who offer coaching at school and at the club), Barnard Castle Rugby Club (who coach Years 5 and 6), Barnard Castle Football Club, TCR Hub, Teesdale Lesiure Centre Swimming Clubs, a Gymnastics coach and much more.
