Work with other schools
Montalbo Nursery and Primary School recently worked with other good and outstanding schools as part of the North East Primary Research Collaboration. This evidence based research programme led to improvements in children’s reading inference skills and a redesign of our Music Curriculum. Montalbo are supporting some other local schools with aspects of their leadership and curriculum.
Community Engagement
Montalbo Nursery and Primary School pride ourselves in our community engagement. We make close links and take part in activities with many local organisations such as St Mary’s Church, TCR Hub, The Witham, Bowes Museum, Durham University, Barnard Castle Town Council, GlaxoSmtihKline, Babul’s, Marshalls and Residential Care Homes. Recently we worked with Volker Laser who are refurbishing Whorlton Bridge, to produce huge artworks to clad their unsightly workshop. In the Spring, we planted bulbs in our town’s castle grounds. Wider Engagement
We have close relationships with other organisations such as OASES (Outdoor and Sustainabity Education Specialists) who we work with on energy reduction, education and conservation.
We work with organisations to help keep our children safe such as police, fire service and NSPCC.
Durham University Trainee Teachers
School is keen to support the next generation of teachers and is working with Durham Unversity, to support degree and PGCE trainee teachers.
