Welcome to Nursery Class
Welcome back to our returning friends and a warm welcome to our new friends and families. This first half term is all about ensuring that all of our nursery pupils feel safe, happy and secure in their nursery environment.
We are so proud of how well our nursery pupils have settled into their new nursery routine. Each session our pupils are welcomed at the door where they say goodbye to their adults and then with support they put their folder in the basket, hang up their belongings and put their apple name card on the tree; we call these our ‘morning jobs’. It has been lovely seeing our pupils becoming more independent and beginning to learn our class routines.
Take a look at some of the wonderful things that we have been busy with in Nursery class already this term…
Our Love of Stories
To promote and develop a love of books and stories we often link our learning to a story; so far this term in nursery we have enjoyed:
We read the stories together, we act out the stories, we use small world resources and props to re-tell favourite parts, we join in with the repeated refrains, we discuss which parts we liked or did not like and we guess what might happen next.
Junk Modelling
We have been exploring using different types of tape to attach resources together. The tape dispenser was rather tricky, but we kept on trying and we learnt how to cut the tape off safely. We have also been using masking tape and glue to join resources together.
Our Autumn Tree
After going on an Autumn walk in the school grounds, we worked together to create our own collaborative tree. We chose colours that we had seen on our walk. We carefully painted our hands and had fun printing handprint leaves onto the tree.
Spooky Fun
We have had a spooky time in class, take a look at some of the learning that has taken place this week.
Keep an eye on our Nursery class page to see what else we ge up to this half term.
