School closed today due to snowy conditions in and around school.
Happy New Year
Welcome back! I hope that you have had a lovely Christmas holiday and managed to spend some time with family and friends. I wish you a Happy New Year – can you believe it’s 2018? The first millennial children will be turning 18 and will be going on to further study or employment!
2018 promises to be a very exciting time in school. The proposed development is great news for the school and we will have to work around the builders to ensure everyone is safe and that school continues to run smoothly. There are many events in school to look forward to such as work with artists, sporting festivals, music at The Hub, Class Assemblies and end of year performances to name but a few. I am proud of our rich and varied curriculum and look forward to seeing how creative our teachers and your children can be!
School of the Year
Yesterday several members of staff and I attended the Pride of Teesdale Awards at the Witham Hall. These awards recognise individuals and organisations that are making a difference to our area. Some of the stories we heard were both humbling and inspirational. We were delighted to be nominated for School of the Year and absoluely thrilled to have won!
Well done to all our talented, hardworking staff and to our superb children!
Start of term
A reminder that children return to school on Tuesday 5th September 2017. We look forward to seeing you all then.
GSK works and impact
Please find attached information regarding continued work at GSK and the impact on traffic and walking routes for our children.
Bangers and Pop Father’s Day Fun
What a fantastic afternoon we had in school today! We had many Dads, Granddads and male relatives in school enjoying sausage sandwiches and a drink. It was lovely to see families chatting and playing together on a range of activities and thankfully the weather stayed fine. Thank you to Mrs Ridley for organising this, Mrs Slater for cooking for the event and the rest of the staff for helping out.
Summer Term
A reminder that Summer Term starts on Monday 24th April. I look forward to seeing you all then.
Happy Easter
It has been another fantastic term! The children have worked hard, behaved very well and produced some excellent work. We have had two superb class assemblies from Classes 2 and 3. We have had several great sporting events such as a the swimming gala, netball, multi-skills and football! The Junior Education Programme with Class 4 taught the children really important lessons in citizenship. We’ve had too many visits and visitors to mention but the curriculum that our teachers plan is very engaging and on the last day I witnessed a pretend battle between the Romans of Class 3 and the Vikings of Class 4. Both were using shields they created as part of their topics and battle formations. I think it ended in a honourable draw!
Happy Easter!
