Collecting batteries and stamps

January 10, 2018 by chrisminikun

Dr Greenwell, our Science Lead, is keen to recycle batteries and share the importance of this with children. She has sent home collection boxes for your child to store used batteries in. These can be brought into school and given to her.

We are also collecting used stamps to give to the RSPB to support their work with albatrosses! There is a collection box by the playground entrance for these. Thank you.

Happy New Year

January 10, 2018 by chrisminikun

Welcome back! I hope that you have had a lovely Christmas holiday and managed to spend some time with family and friends. I wish you a Happy New Year – can you believe it’s 2018? The first millennial children will be turning 18 and will be going on to further study or employment!

2018 promises to be a very exciting time in school. The proposed development is great news for the school and we will have to work around the builders to ensure everyone is safe and that school continues to run smoothly. There are many events in school to look forward to such as work with artists, sporting festivals, music at The Hub, Class Assemblies and end of year performances to name but a few. I am proud of our rich and varied curriculum and look forward to seeing how creative our teachers and your children can be!

Online Gaming

November 17, 2017 by chrisminikun

Key Stage 2 parents should have received a useful leaflet last week with hints on managing children’s online behaviour. Many children play games online and it can often to be tricky for parents (myself included) to keep up with games and their suitability. For parents/carers who did not receive one the information can be found by following the link below:-

Bangers and Pop Father’s Day Fun

June 16, 2017 by chrisminikun

What a fantastic afternoon we had in school today! We had many Dads, Granddads and male relatives in school enjoying sausage sandwiches and a drink. It was lovely to see families chatting and playing together on a range of activities and thankfully the weather stayed fine. Thank you to Mrs Ridley for organising this,  Mrs Slater for cooking for the event and the rest of the staff for helping out.

E-Safety Update

May 19, 2017 by chrisminikun

The NSPCC have launched a campaign to help parents learn how to keep their children safe when using devices, and it would be helpful if schools highlighted the attached advice in Newsletters or shared the link to the video on School Social media sites.  This is particularly relevant as there has been a rise in the number of issues reported by primary schools linked to children on Social Media.

The NSPCC Advice is :-

  • Watch and share our new campaign ad ‘Safety advice from a 10 year old.
  • Alert schools to our e-safety pages which include teaching materials and Share Aware leaflets, our Keeping Children Safe Online training module in association with CEOP, and our parent workshops
  • Visit our new Share Aware campaign web page  (www.nspcc.org.uk)
  • Tweet or post about the campaign. Assets and draft tweets and posts are attached.
