We have had a fantastic first few days in Year 4! We have started new morning routines linked to ‘One Life’ including ‘Meet and Greet’ where children get to choose how they greet their teacher first thing in the morning and ‘Time to Talk’ where children can have a friendly chat with their peers for two minutes before the start of the day. We have started our Oracy in English developing an explanation of how William Kamkwamba created a wind turbine in his community.
I have been really impressed with the whole class in Maths as we have started looking at the place value of 4 digit numbers. We have been learning all about the geographical features of coal mining in Geography, developing our enquiry skills in History and recalling our knowledge on key religions in RE. In our busy first week we have also squeezed in some football skills in PE and developing our attention by reading outside in Outdoor Learning!
PE is on a Monday and Thursday.
Outdoor Learning is on Tuesdays. It is essential children have a pair of wellies/hiking boots/old trainers to change into in order to take part. This helps protect the inside of school from the mud that trails in!
Homework and Spellings will be sent home on Friday and due in on Wednesday.
Children will be learning Brass during their music lesson this term on a Friday afternoon.
Dr Blezard will be teaching Science and Computing on a Monday morning.
We are looking forward to getting to know you all over the next term. Please do not hesitate to speak to us either at drop off or pick up. Alternatively, contact school to make an appointment or ask for a phone call. You can also contact us using the class email.
