Children have returned to Nursery after the Christmas holidays and we are so proud of how well they have settled back in. We have also welcomed our new starters who have enjoyed exploring the provision both indoors and outdoors.
We have started the term with our topic, ‘Dinosaurs’. The children have enjoyed sharing stories all about dinosaurs, talking about the features of each dinosaur and learning their very tricky names! They have used their fine motor skills to draw dinosaurs and they have worked together to construct some fantastic ‘dinosaur worlds’ using a range of building resources.
Take a look at some of the focused stories we have shared so far.
We have embraced the cold weather by exploring ice through hands-on activities. The children enjoyed painting ice and discussing why ice forms outdoors during colder weather. We also talked about what happens when ice melts, encouraging curiosity and early scientific thinking through play and observation. Look at the fun they have had…
We have continued our dinosaur journey, sharing the story ‘Dear Dinosaur’.
This story is all about a boy called Max who strikes up and unlikely pen-pal friendship with a tyrannosaurus rex after visiting a museum.
The children have enjoyed creating their own museum using blocks, dinosaurs, fossils and dinosaur bones! They used their emergent writing skills to write their own dinosaur facts for their museums.
