First Summer Half Term
Reception are learning about traditional tales and fairy tales during this half term.
We have enjoyed doing lots of work about Jack and the Beanstalk. We have been doing puppet shows, creating Jack and the Beanstalk art, and planting beans and learning what they need to grow.
We have enjoyed doing building in both our indoor and outdoor construction areas and have been doing a great job of planning what we are going to build and working as a team to get the job done.
Maths
We have been learning about how to measure time in simple ways using timers. We have explored how clocks and watches tell us the time. We have been working hard to recognise and sequence numbers to 20 and beyond as well as counting large quantities. Next this half term, we are going to be measuring using standard and non-standard measures.
English
We are working hard to read fluently and understand what we have read. This half term we will be working on lots of ways to show we understand the things that we read.
We have been making words using set 2 sounds in lots of different ways including using beans.
We have been re-writing the Jack and the Beanstalk story and will be writing lots of our own versions of well known stories this half term.
