Happy New Year!
It has been wonderful to welcome our nursery friends back into class and to say hello to our new starters this term.
We are going to start the spring term off with the ‘ROARSOME’ theme of Dinosaurs!!!
Our first books are…
We have already been really impressed by the children’s knowledge of dinosaurs and by the facts they have been sharing; we are looking forward to finding out lots more.
We have adapted our sensory tray and created our very own ‘Dino Dig’ area. We have been finding out about the role of a Palaeontologist and have already made some interesting discoveries.
Ahoy There!!!
Nursery class also developed a keen interest in pirates this term. We had lots of fun constructing pirate ships, mark making maps, exploring sensory trays, comparing amounts in treasure chests, making compasses and so much more.
Science Day 2022
This term we also joined in with the whole school ‘Science Day’. We had a visit from two alpacas, a Professor came into class to show us some very interesting animal skulls and we even made our own seed bombs. It was a such a fun and fascinating day.
Mr Wolf’s Pancake
To link in with Shrove Tuesday, we enjoyed the story ‘Mr Wolf’s Pancake’. In class we explored dry ingredients in our malleable area and pretended to make pancakes and other delicious treats. It was great to see the children using real recipe books in their play.
We also wrote our own shopping lists, just like Mr Wolf did in the story. Together we prepared and cooked our own pancakes and had a pancake picnic on the carpet; we got to choose from a range of toppings.
Mr MacGregors Breakfast Egg
This term we have also been finding out about farms. One week our story focus was’ Mr MacGregors Breakfast Egg’. After reading it together and acting it out using small world resources, we had a go at creating our own maps of the story. We talked about the different features that we might see on a farm and we looked at the illustrations in the book for more ideas.
Take a look at some of the marvellous maps that nursery class created…
Keep an eye on this page to see what other wonderful adventures we will go on this term…
